Brooklyn Events Happening This Weekend

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK — This week wasn’t an easy one. New York City suffered its biggest terrorist attack since 9/11 and lost two major local news outlets after its journalists unionized. So let’s all take the weekend to recuperate. And celebrate a city that always keeps on going.

Food Loves Tech

What: Edible Manhattan and Edible Brooklyn present a two-day expo where some of the city’s best chefs and mixologists will provide lectures, classes, and of course, tastings.

Live Nation Presents Chris Rock: Total Blackout Tour 2017
Neighborhood: Fort Greene
What: Chris Rock performs the Total Blackout Tour in his first performance in Brooklyn in almost 10 years.

First Frightdays: Invasion Of The Body Snatchers Screening
Neighborhood: Williamsburg
What: First Frightdays presents the next film in its monthly horror series. This remake of a Hollywood classic (which features the wonderful line, “I never knew fear until I kissed Becky”) stars Donald Sutherland, Brooke Adams and Jeff Goldblum.

Smash Pumpkins This Weekend
Neighborhood: Prospect Heights
What: Bring your left over jack o’ lanterns to smash in the farm’s compost, then enjoy baked potatoes, hot cider and other snacks.

Little Caribbean Food + Culture Crawl
Neighborhood: Flatbush
What: Take a stroll through Little Caribbean to sample some of the best Caribbean food in the city. There will be fresh coconuts in the courtyard and a private tour of the market.

The Visitation: Immersive Theater Experience

What: Star Chamber presents an immersive theater experience about a young girl’s experience of witchcraft.

First Saturdays At The Brooklyn Museum
Neighborhood: Crown Heights
What: International music and artwork will be on display when the Brooklyn Museum opens it doors for its monthly open house bash.
