Clinton Hill's 'Most Anticipated' Spring Restaurant Openings

CLINTON HILL, BROOKLYN —There's a certain excitement when a restaurant with buzz opens in your neighborhood. When will you go? What will you order?

As restaurants continue battling back from the lows of the pandemic, more eateries are opening up shop throughout the city in the coming year.

Eater NY recently put together a list of the city's "most anticipated" spring restaurant openings, all of which editors say are "worth clearing the calendar for" — including two slated to open in Clinton Hill this season.

Brooklyn Hots, a Rochester-inspired eatery, is planning to open at 291 Greene Avenue near Classon avenue in "a couple of weeks," and a wine bar called Place des Fêtes is coming down the street at 212 Greene Avenue "soon," according to the restaurants' social media.

As editors point out, Brooklyn Hots is inspired by Rochester's famous (or infamous) "garbage plate" — a dish of potatoes, beans, hot dogs, onions, meat sauce and the likes all piled onto one plate.

At Brooklyn Hots, diners can choose from some house special "trash plates" or make their own, complete with less conventional toppings like broccolini and Beyond meat.

The spot is going to be BYOB, in part as an effort to have customers shop at Radicle Wine next door, where Brooklyn Hots owner Brian Heiss is also a co-owner.

Appealing to a different palate, Place des Fêtes is a wine bar, which, as Eater points out, includes one chef behind the Michelin-starred tasting menu Oxalis.

The spot, which editors say is part of the city's Spanish wine bar moment, will include a full dinner menu plus (highbrow) bar snacks, notably featuring tinned fish from Conservas.
