Cochinita Owner: 'It's Surprisingly Easier the Second Time Around'

Fulton Street taqueria reopens four months after fire.

Cochinita owner Adam Frank is living proof that there are such things as second chances—at least, in business.

Speaking in front of his on Monday, Frank discussed the firefighting efforts that gutted his taqueria last July and his hopes for a prosperous (and accident-free) future.

"It feels great to be back," Frank said. "It's surprisingly easier the second time around."

Three days after Cochinita , Frank reported positive responses from regulars and new customers, who once again lined up in a rehabilitated dining area for the establishment's .

Still, the struggles of the past months left their traces on this Clinton Hill small business owner.

, which started in an upstairs apartment, came only a month-and-a-half after the taqueria opened its doors—at a time when Cochinita was just forming a customer base.

While Frank acknowledged his business had a lot of ground to recover, he sounded an optimistic note.

"Honesty, we were still getting on our feet," Frank said. "So it was just another thing to deal with. At least we were prepared."
