Downtown Brooklyn's 90 Miles of Lights Will Stay Lit Through January

So we get to celebrate Christmas through 2017.

DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN, BROOKLYN — Christmas goes by fast, but luckily, you'll be able to see Christmas lights in Brooklyn throughout January for the first time ever. The vibrant multi-colored holiday lights in Downtown Brooklyn will officially stay up through Jan. 25, the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership announced Thursday.

The display this year was pretty worthy of being extended through January. Designed by Fantastica and lit by Illuminations, the set-up includes 500 steel structures that formed 35-ft-wide overhead skylines, 5-by-5-ft-high 3D boxes, and light pole adornments. They were also wrapped in 480,000 linear feet of rope light, which is the equivalent of more than 90 miles of lights. That means you could technically wrap Downtown Brooklyn's light rope around the perimeter of Central Park more than 15 times.
