Duo Suspected Of Stealing Iron Gates Arrested
Two suspects taken into custody on Saturday allegedly had stolen property in their vehicle.
Detectives with the 81st Precinct’s Anti-Crime Unit arrested two men on Saturday suspected of stealing five wrought-iron gates from Clinton Hill brownstones in May.
Mario Thornton, 45, of Crown Heights and Charles Robinson, 46, of Brownsville were charged with five counts of criminal possession of stolen property after officers allegedly found the gates in the back of a vehicle they were driving.
The gates were found missing during a period from May 18 to 23 from five homes, including two on Vanderbilt Avenue, two on St. James Place and one Cambridge Place, all in Clinton Hill. According to police, the gates—which are worth anywhere from $500 to $800—were taken in broad daylight.
