Earthquake Centered In Virginia Gives Brooklyn a Jolt
5.8 temblor felt across the borough; No damage reported; Cellphone users report spotty service.

Don, a barista at in Fort Greene and a California native, may have been one of the few people not to feel an earthquake hit the borough Monday afternoon.
But others certaintly did.
"I felt my legs begin to shake and I thought, 'What's going on here?'" said Pedro Espinoza, who was walking his dog on Dekalb Ave. when the temblor hit at approximately 2:04 p.m.

According to the U.S. Geological Service, the earthquake registered 5.8 with an epicenter northwest of Richmond.
Residents reported having trouble getting through to loved ones and friends on cellphones—30 minutes after the quake hit.

"I've been trying over and over but I can't get through," said Clinton Hill resident Gloria Sweeney. "I know everything is O.K., but it's very strange."
