Fort Greene Cafe On Vanderbilt Closed By Health Inspectors
Inspectors said they found evidence of mice and other contamination violations at a condo complex's cafe and market, records show.

FORT GREENE, BROOKLYN — A cafe and market found inside a condo complex on Flushing Avenue was closed down by health inspectors this week.
The 66S Cafemart, found at the address 8 Vanderbilt Avenue, received 50 violation points after an inspection by the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene on Tuesday. A score of 28 points or above requires that the department close the restaurant.
The report shows that inspectors found evidence of mice in the cafe, that its food was not protected from contamination and that its plumping was not properly installed or maintained.

An employee who answered the phone Friday told Patch that the cafe would be closed for about a week, but said to call a manager for any other questions. The manager did not return a request for comment.
An employee who answered the phone at the 66S Fusion sushi restaurant, found in the same building, said that the cafe area closure was because of problems with its heating and insulation. Inspectors asked that the restaurant be shut down while they fix the windows and insulation so that it would not be too hot or too cold for food inside, he said.

But, the employee, who did not give his name, denied that there were any other issues, such as evidence of mice, at the restaurant.
The Cafemart is a convenience-store and "every day" cafe inside of the Navy Green condo complex on Flushing Avenue.
