Fort Greene-Clinton Hill Ranked No. 2 Most Desirable Brooklyn Nabe
L Magazine credits area's culture and diverse retail in its Brooklyn Power Rankings... but counsels potential residents to stay in at night.

Congrats Fort Greene-Clinton Hill residents... turns out the nabe you call home is pretty cool after all.
Or so says The L Magazine, which named our slice of the borough No. 2 on its Brooklyn Neighborhood Power Ranking released this week.
Only No. 1 Greenpoint, with Park Slope and Carroll Gardens bringing up the rear at No. 8 and No. 9 respectively, bested Fort Greene-Clinton Hill.

Promising a "scientific approach," the Williamsburg-centric publication ranked 48 Brooklyn neighborhoods based on things like food, culture and, of course, affordability.
Leading off with the statement, "This is what gentrification should always look like," the publication goes on to praise Fort Greene-Clinton Hill's mix of brownstone, Afro-Caribbean cuisine and increasingly omnipresent baby strollers.

However, the tone is not all glowing. Under the header, "Second Thoughts," the magazine gives its readers this somewhat-cryptic reference to the neighborhoods' seedier past—or perhaps a nod to afflicting present day Fort Greene:
"The thing about charmingly scuffy brownstones along peaceful tree-lined streets an affordable distance from commercial strips in an only softly gentrified neighborhood, of course, is that at night..."
