Gang Member Gets 25 Years In Prison For Fatal Applebee's Shooting
Malik Peters, 19, was sentenced to 25-years behind bars for the fatal shooting of Armani Hankins, 16, in 2015, prosecutors said.

BROOKLYN, NY — A gang member will spend 25-years behind bars for the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old outside a Downtown Brooklyn Applebee's, District Attorney Eric Adams announced.
Malik Peters, 19, was sentenced to prison Tuesday after being convicted of killing rival gang member Armani Hankins outside the eatery in 2015, Adams said. Tyshawn Simon-Roberson, 18, was previously sentenced to 15-years for shooting an 18-year-old during the dispute.
"This is the second defendant brought to justice for brazenly opening fire on a busy Downtown Brooklyn street with no regard for those around him," Adams said in a statement. "The shooting took one young man’s life and injured another. Such senseless violence will not be tolerated."

On Oct. 26, 2015, members of East New York's "4 to 5" gang and Fort Greene's "900" crew — which Peters and Simon-Roberson were members of — met in front of the 393 Flatbush Ave. Extension restaurant at about 6 p.m., prosecutors said.
The dispute turned violent when Simon-Roberson pulled out a gun and shot an 18-year-old man in the leg. Hankins and his fellow "4 to 5" gang members chased after the rival crew when Peters shot the 16-year-old in the head, authorities said.
