Greene Hill Co-op Store to Open Soon

Greene Hill Co-op is about to hit yet another important milestone in its fledging mission to bring fresh fruit and vegetables to Fort Greene-Clinton Hill.

The organization's store at 18 Putnam Ave. in Clinton Hill will open to co-op members on Saturday, Dec. 17 at 10 a.m.

The group, which takes a cue from the popular Park Slope Co-op, held its .

At the time, Greene Hill Co-op had 160 members—a number that has grown as word spreads in what due to the lack of available fresh produce.

Interviewed earlier this year, the co-op's spokeswoman, Anna Muessig, viewed the changing neighborhoods of Clinton Hill and Fort Greene as a mirror of a pre-gentrified Park Slope in the 1970s.

"The neighborhood grew up around them," Muessig said of Park Slope Co-op. "We're in a neighborhood that very much lacks those same resources [of affordable food], like the Slope in the 70s."

The store will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17. Days and hours of operation after that have not been posted.
