John Hurt to Make NYC Stage Debut at BAM
Acting legend makes rare appearance in Samuel Beckett's 'Krapp's Last Tape.'

English thespian John Hurt has had a career embodying iconic roles in a variety of different film and TV productions, both at home and abroad.
And though the star of such films as 'The Elephant Man' and 'Nineteen Eighty-Four' is not best known for his stage performances, it still seems surprising that Hurt's appearance in Samuel Beckett's 'Krapp's Last Tape' at 's Harvey Theater starting Dec. 6 will be his first on the New York boards—or at least, according to BAM.
Hurt stars as the titular character in a play just about as stark and bleak as one may expect from a master of post-modern drama like Beckett—one about a man marking his 69th birthday by listening to a tape recorded 30 years earlier.
