Metal Bollards Make Debut at Atlantic Terminal
Small, compact security barriers replacing concrete 'sarcophagi.'

Workers installed the first metal bollards outside Atlantic Terminal—giving residents, straphangers and shoppers a glimpse of the smaller, more compact security barriers that will eventually line both sides of Atlantic Avenue.
Demolition of the large, boulder-like concrete barriers, , is still ongoing.

According to plans released by developer Forest City Ratner, a finished Barclays Center will be ringed by the metal bollards, which will be tough enough to stop a 15,000-pound truck driving 50 miles per hour.
