North Elliott Place Shooting Leaves 25-Year-Old Fort Greene Man Dead: NYPD

A 25-year-old man was shot dead early Sunday morning on North Elliott Place in Fort Greene, according to the NYPD.

FORT GREENE, BROOKLYN — A 25-year-old man was found dead in Fort Greene on Sunday morning, the victim of multiple gunshot wounds to his torso, police said.

A 911 call to police at approximately 2 a.m. reported the man's body opposite of 15 North Elliott Place, according to the NYPD.

Responding officers found Akming Albritton of nearby Sands Street unconscious and unresponsive with multiple gunshots wounds to his chest. Medical personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to Methodist Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The shooter was with a group of friends and wore a dark-colored hat and a bandana covering his face according to the New York Daily News.

The shooting took place in the NYPD's 88th Precinct, which patrols Fort Greene and parts of Clinton Hill. According to official police statistics, through Aug. 21, shooting incidences in the 88th were down 80 percent compared to the same period last year.

Shooting deaths have decreased as well. Through Aug. 21, a total of three shooting victims had been recorded, compared to 18 shooting victims during the same period last year.
