Report: Nevermind, No Starbucks for Fort Greene

Snuff out the torches, put down the pitchforks.

Locavore caffeine-addicts, breathe a sigh of relief. A week-old rumor that Fort Greene was soon to be invaded coffee mega-vendor Starbucks has been debunked, according to the Brooklyn Daily Eagle.

The paper reported recently that a lawyer for Fort Greene's Not Ray's Pizza told Community Board 2 that the planet-ruling coffee chain was moving in to its recently-vacated space.

The revelation stirred up businesses on Fulton Street and beyond, who wanted nothing to do with the frappuccino-slinging corporate Death Star, and to avoid a fate that befell Prospect Heights earlier this year.

According to the paper, the space has actually been taken up by another local business owner — Sean Meenan, who is also the building's landlord and the owner of Habana Outpost.
