"Serious" Cupcakes Arrive at Dekalb Market
This Brooklyn pastry shop comes with a variety of tasty treats—and a sense of humor.
It's a cupcake worthy of a certain frozen banana stand—namely, the one appearing in several episodes of the cult TV show, Arrested Development.
Called "The Bluth" in honor of the family that owned and operated the fictional dessert hut, this mix of chocolate banana cake, buttercream and roasted walnut is the product of husband-and-wife duo Matt and Allison Robicelli, who have set up shop at the in Downtown Brooklyn.
Robicelli's is one of dozens of eateries, fresh food sellers and stores to make their new home at the market housed in shipping containers stacked in an empty lot along Flatbush Avenue Extension.
