The Early Word: Denis Johnson Comes to BAM

1. Brooklyn's literary set is in for a real treat from Johnson's forthcoming book of plays, Soul of a Whore and Purvis: Two Plays in Verse. BAMcafe, Lepercq Space, 30 Lafayette Ave. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. $50 (includes dinner, wine, tax and tip).
