UPDATE: Nicodemus, a local art curator, was shopping for a Christmas tree and gifts with her boyfriend when she was killed, according to DNAinfo. “She was so happy. Things were going so well for her,” her brother told the news site. He added: ”It’s horrible to get the news. You were with her for the holidays, then a week later she’s no longer with you.” Nicodemus is the 20th person to be killed this year by an out-of-control driver careening onto a sidewalk, according to the nonprofit Transportation Alternatives.

Original story:
A young female pedestrian from Brooklyn Heights was killed — and two other pedestrians injured — when an unlicensed driver veered his Chevy SUV onto the sidewalk of Fulton Street near South Portland Avenue in Fort Greene early Sunday evening, according to the NYPD.
The woman who was killed has since been identified as 30-year-old Victoria Nicodemus. Police said she lived on Willow Street in Brooklyn Heights.
Nicodemus’s family members identified her to the New York Daily News as the same woman listed online as an art curator for Indiewalls. They said she had been walking through Fort Greene with her boyfriend when she was killed.
“She was an incredible young woman,” her brother, 47-year-old Vernon resident Peter Miller, told the Daily News. “She was the light of our lives. Honestly one of the most beautiful souls.”
Meanwhile, the driver in Sunday’s crash — identified by police as 39-year-old Brownsville resident Marlon Sewell — has been taken into custody and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
Upon arriving at the scene around 5:30 p.m., police said they determined that:
“A 2004 Chevrolet being driven by a 39-year-old male was traveling eastbound on Fulton Street when it swerved to the right in order to avoid hitting the vehicle in front it. The vehicle proceeded to strike the sidewalk, colliding with a Victim No. 1, a 30-year-old female pedestrian, Victim No. 1, a 37-year-old male pedestrian, and Victim No. 3, a 75-year-old female pedestrian.”
Nicodemus was pronounced dead at Brooklyn Hospital soon after. The other two victims were reported to be in stable condition.
