Video: White Guy Vs. White Guy in Downtown Brooklyn
"The only reason white people like you are living here is because I settled this f**king neighborhood for you."

Update: The man who shot the video, who does not wish to be identified, has confirmed its authenticity to Patch. (Full interview below.) Let us all take a moment to thank him for this gift.

In a video uploaded to YouTube on Tuesday that‘s almost too perfect to be real, a white guy in a jogging outfit who claims to have “settled” Downtown Brooklyn throws a tantrum when a white couple “new to the neighborhood” accidentally hits him with their stroller.
“You push your stroller into people?” the jogger, who also claims to be a professional fighter, yells at the husband while a cop tries to separate the two. “Your baby could get hurt.”

“I fight babies like you,” he says. ”Baby.”
Apparently forgetting that he is in fact also a white gentrifier, the jogger then goes on a diatribe on white gentrifiers moving into Downtown Brooklyn.
“You’re new to this neighborhood,” he says. ”I’ve been in this neighborhood. The only reason white people like you are living here is because I settled this f------ neighborhood for you!”
When the woman with the stroller says, ”You’re a sick f---,” the jogger responds: ”You’re a sick f---. White privilege. White f------ privilege.”
The hero who shot the video is a 24-year-old college student and construction worker from Queens. He did not wish to be identified, for fear of losing his job.
When the argument broke out, the videographer was at his job site at the intersection of Willoughby and Bridge streets downtown — the future home of the swanky AvalonBay apartment building, soon-to-be tallest residential tower in Brooklyn. (”Ironic,” he said.)
“I took out my phone and I started recording,“ he told Patch. “I didn’t want to miss out on a fight or something.”
The anonymous videographer said he and other passerby were in a state of disbelief when the jogger started claiming he had “settled” Brooklyn.
”Thank you white guy!” the videographer can be heard shouting in the video. One of his co-workers can be heard cracking up in the background.
“It was just outrageous, what he was saying,” the videographer said. “He seems to have his own distorted views on what Brooklyn is, so that’s what he thinks. That’s his opinion.”
“Some people actually think they are the settlers of Brooklyn,” he said. ”It’s one of those unspoken things. But now it’s actually being said.”
Within five minutes of posting the video, the videographer said he got a call from Jukin Media, a sort of viral-video harvesting company based in California. The company bought rights to his video for $200 up front plus a 70 percent commission on any profits the video brings in, he said.
“If I see him, I’ll approach him and try to get his contact info,” he said of the now-infamous jogger in his video. Let the manhunt for Brooklyn’s most obnoxious gentrifier begin.
