Woman Fatally Shot at Whitman Houses in Fort Greene Not Yet Identified
The unnamed woman is one of only a handful of shooting victims in Fort Greene this year.

FORT GREENE, BROOKLYN — Police are asking for help identifying a woman found dead Thursday at the Whitman Houses in Fort Greene.
Following a 911 call, police found the woman inside 56 North Oxford Walk with gunshot wounds to the head, leg and arm, according to the NYPD.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. No arrests had been made as of Friday, and the investigation into the case was ongoing.
Detectives describe the woman as a white or Hispanic female between 20 and 35 years old. She is five-foot-six-inches tall, has a medium build, and blond hair.

She also has a series of tattoos on her body. These include stars drawn on her right ankle; the names "Johnathan" and "Cerenity" on the her front upper torso; and the following tattoos pictured below, and described by police as follows:
"A shamrock on her left calf"

This shooting occurred in the NYPD's 88th Precinct, which patrols Fort Greene and Clinton Hill. According to official police statistics, through July 10 of this year, major crimes in the 88th had collectively fallen nearly 11 percent compared to the same period last year.
There were no murders recorded in the 88th through July 10, and just one recorded shooting with one victim, compared to 10 shootings with 11 victims during the same period last year.
