Man, 70, Struck By Vehicle On Sunrise Highway, Seriously Hurt: Police

He suffered trauma to his head and body and was taken to an area hospital where he is in critical condition, Nassau police say.

BALDWIN, NY — A 70-year-old man crossing Sunrise Highway in Baldwin was struck by a vehicle Thursday night, Nassau police said.

The man had been crossing north to south on Sunrise Highway, near Harrison Avenue, just before 9 p.m. when he was struck by a 2013 Nissan traveling eastbound on Sunrise Highway, according to police.

He suffered trauma to his head and body and was taken to an area hospital for treatment and evaluation, police said, adding that he is listed in critical condition.

The 33-year-old woman driving the vehicle was not injured and remained at the scene, police said.

It's not clear if the vehicle is a car or a Sport-utility vehicle.
