LIRR Train Strikes Man on Tracks; PM Rush Service Impacted

A man was struck on Long Island Rail Road tracks west of Freeport Tuesday afternoon, the railroad said. Police and EMS are on scene.

The man was struck by a westbound train between Baldwin and Freeport at 3:45 p.m. His condition is unknown.

LIRR service on the Babylon Branch is suspended in both directions. Westbound trains cannot return to Penn Station for their normal eastbound rush hour operation, the railroad said on Twitter.

Commuters should consider using alternate branches, including Long Beach, Hempstead, Huntington/Port Jefferson and Ronkonkoma. All branches, however, may experience delays and cancellations during the evening rush.
