For the second year in a row, the Long Island Volunteer Hall of Fame will honor an exceptional Long Islander with the Inspirational Service Award.
This award recognizes a volunteer who's made a significant impact through a commitment to community service. This individual inspires others in his/her life and serves as a role model for volunteerism.
Last year’s recipient was Victoria Ruvolo, the victim of a senseless attack when a young man threw a frozen turkey through her windshield on the Long Island Expressway in 2004. She's tirelessly volunteered her time and shared her inspiring story of forgiveness with at-risk youth.
The call for nominations will run from July 12 to September 30.
Nomination forms could be accessed at http://www.livolunteerhalloffame.org/Nominations_Get_Involved.html, or obtained from the Long Island Volunteer Center at 5i6-564-5482.
Nominators may be any person or group with direct knowledge of the nominee's contribution.
