2 Elderly Displaced After Early Christmas Eve Fire: FD

Fire marshals say the fire was brought under control within 40 minutes.

PLAINVIEW, NY — A house fire early Christmas Eve has displaced two elderly occupants, fire marshals said.

Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office said they received a call for a house fire on Central Park Road at 1:10 a.m. on Wednesday.

The fire was in the bedroom of the one-story ranch-style home, fire marshals said.

The two elderly residents were self-evacuated and evaluated for smoke inhalation with no other injuries reported, fire marshals said.

The house was deemed not habitable due to fire and utilities being turned off, fire marshals said.

The fire was brought under control within 40 minutes with approximately 75 firefighters on scene, fire marshals said.

The Plainview Fire Department was assisted by mutual aid fire departments from Bethpage, Jericho, Hicksville, Syosset, and Farmingdale, fire marshals said.

The fire is under investigation by the Nassau County Fire Marshal’s Office and NCPD Arson/Bomb Squad.
