Boil Advisory Lifted For Several Nassau County Communities

Residents are still advised to flush every faucet before using the water.

NASSAU COUNTY, NY — A boil advisory has been lifted for several Nassau County communities after it was issued Friday following a main break, according to authorities.

Liberty New York Water customers in Baldwin, Island Park, Oceanside, Roosevelt and South Hempstead were advised to boil water Friday due to the main break and low water pressure, authorities said.

Water pressure was quickly fixed for all but 30 customers, whose water was restored after the main was repaired Saturday morning, according to Liberty New York Water. The boil advisory remained in effect for another day while officials awaited the results of bacteria tests.

The tests came back negative Sunday, but residents are still advised to flush every faucet for at least three to five minutes before using the water following the low pressure. Health facilities, multi-story commercial structures and apartment buildings should flush each faucet for 10-15 minutes.
