GARDEN CITY, NY — The Garden City Police Department reported the following incidents for the week ending July 13.
July 7
- As a result of an investigation of an erratic driver on Hilton Avenue, a driver was charged with driving with suspended license privileges, and unlicensed operation.
- Graffiti was found on a stop sign and stop line on Hampton Road.
- A pest control company was issued an appearance ticket for soliciting house-to-house without a permit. They were issued a warning earlier in the day.

- A driver was charged with driving on Washington Avenue with a suspended registration and unregistered operation.
- Officers responded to New Hyde Park Road and Stewart Avenue for a traffic light outage.
- Officers responded to New Hyde Park Road for malfunctioning railroad gates at the Stewart Manor Station.
July 9
- A man and woman were seen removing a stop sign on the corner of Pine Street and Clinton Street. They left the scene with the sign heading west.
- A truck traveling south struck the Cherry Valley Avenue bridge. The operator was charged with disregarding bridge clearance signs.
- Police and fire fighters responded to a residence where three people were feeling light-headed and dizzy. Firefighters detected high levels of carbon monoxide in the home, apparently due to a defective boiler. The residents were treated at the scene by NYU personnel.
- Officers responded to a 7th Street business for a burglar alarm and found an open door. The officers checked the interior of the building, and all appeared to be in order. The owner was notified and responded to the scene.
- As a result of Tropical Storm Elsa, officers responded to several calls for tree limbs down, auto accidents, fire alarms, house alarms, a traffic light malfunction and a blown transformer which caused a power outage.
- A driver was charged with driving on Stewart Avenue with a suspended registration and unregistered operation.
July 10

- As a result of a domestic incident investigation, officers arrested a 57-year-old man for punching another family member multiple times in the face. The man was charged with assault.
- Officers investigated a report of a man fleeing CVS after stealing an item from the store.
July 11
- As a result of a domestic incident investigation, officers arrested a 30-year-old man for repeatedly punching and dragging another family member, causing multiple injuries. He was charged with assault.
- Officers responded to a report of a man fleeing CVS after stealing multiple items. The officers apprehended him in Parking Field 8. He was charged with petty larceny.
- A resident reported multiple unauthorized bank accounts were opened using his personal information.
- Officers investigated a report of a possible trespass inside a Commercial Avenue business.
July 12
- Police and fire fighters responded to Adelphi University for a fire alarm inside the science building. Upon investigation, the cause appeared to be a water leak. Police and fire fighters also responded to a Franklin Avenue business for a fire alarm and determined the cause to be a malfunctioning fire suppressant sprinkler.
- As a result of an investigation involving aggressive driving violations on Stewart Avenue in the vicinity of Kildare Road, a driver was charged with driving with a suspended license, excessive speed, and two unsafe lane usage violations.
- A Brooklyn company was charged with the operation of a truck on Clinton Road while in violation of multiple traffic and safety violations. In addition, the driver was charged with driving with a suspended license.
July 13
- Officers investigated a report of an unauthorized application for a loan using the identity of another person.
- Officers investigated a report of a resident’s identity being stolen to open an unauthorized cell phone account.
- A Garden City business reported two forged checks totaling $14,000 were cashed against the company’s bank account.
- A motorcyclist was charged with driving on Stewart Avenue and New Hyde Park Road with a suspended license, operating a cell phone, driving without an approved helmet, and unregistered vehicle.
