The Garden City Bird Sanctuary Celebrates its 30th Anniversary!
Local Nonprofit Nature Preserve Continues to Flourish After Three Decades

We are pleased to announce that the Garden City Bird Sanctuary (GCBS) is celebrating its 30th Anniversary this year! The GCBS was founded in 1995 and continues to thrive—maintaining a local greenspace for environmental stewardship right here in your community! To celebrate, we have been featuring community events each month. We started with our annual Winterfest in January, the Great Backyard Bird Count in February, a volunteer workday in March, and our 17th Annual Community Yard Sale in April. Other events we’ve held this year include the Global Big Day Bird Count, Plant & Tool Donation Day, Moth Night, and a Nature Walk Fundraiser with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP).
We hope you will join us on July 26th for our official 30th Anniversary Celebration from 3pm–6pm (rain date August 2nd). There will be live music and light refreshments to enjoy! We will also have guided tours and bird watching. It will be fun for the whole family, and completely free!
We hope you will also join us for one or more of these upcoming events:

The GCBS was created and continues to flourish through the generosity and dedication of volunteers who have worked to make the 9-acre preserve what it is today. We have wooded areas with trails, open fields, meadows, gardens, and even a small fishpond. The property is open to the public from the last weekend of April through the last full weekend of September, on weekends only, from 10am–6pm, weather permitting (thanks to our dedicated Volunteer Corps). The main entrance is located at 182 Tanners Pond Road. There is no charge to visit.
We are a certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and operate solely on donations and volunteers. Every penny we raise goes back into the GCBS and our community programs. All donations are 100% tax deductible as per the IRS Code, and donations may be made online at TheGCBS.org.
