Linda Mangano Released From Prison, Now In Home Confinement

The wife of the former county executive will serve the remaining 10 months of her sentence at home.

NASSAU COUNTY, NY — Linda Mangano, the wife of former Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano, is being released from prison early. She will serve the remainder of her sentence at home.

Newsday reported that Mangano was transferred from from her prison in Connecticut to home confinement late last month. There was no reason given for the transfer.

Mangano was sentenced to 15 months in jail for lying to the FBI during its investigation into her husband's corruption. She started her sentence on Sept. 9, and is scheduled to be released from custody in August. She spent five months of her sentence in prison.

Edward Mangano was convicted in 2019 of a string of charges related to accepting bribes in his position as county executive. Linda was found guilty about lying to the FBI about a no-show job she had.

As part of the bribery scheme, Edward Mangano pressured the Town of Oyster Bay into backing $20 million in loans for restaurateur Harendra Singh, who was bribing the Manganos.

Edward Mangano was sentenced to 12 years in prison, and has to pay $10 million in restitution. He started is prison sentence last September. Federal court documents show that he is scheduled to be released in 2032.
