Long Island Soccer Club To Join MLS Next League

The U13 and U14 teams will participate starting in the upcoming 2024-2025 season.

LONG ISLAND, NY — The Long Island Soccer Club (LISC) is joining MLS NEXT for its boys' teams starting with the 2024-2025 season.

The youth player development platform of Major League Soccer (MLS), MLS NEXT provides the most comprehensive and effective player development experience in North America.

Two new fields at the Globall Sports Center at Mitchel Athletic Complex will eventually host the Under 13 and Under 14 teams. A spokesperson said they are aiming for the spring of 2025.

In the interim, matches will be played at existing Hofstra University and Suffolk County Community College facilities.

"LISC is tremendously proud to have been selected as the first MLS NEXT program in Nassau
and Suffolk County, joining the USA’s most elite clubs in providing Long Island players with
access to the highest level of player opportunity and development," said LISC Technical Director, Gary Book.

The 2024-25 season will include 29 MLS Academies, 123 Elite Academies (152 total clubs), over 700 teams and more than 15,000 players across the U.S. and Canada competing in six age groups: U13, U14, U15, U16, U17 and U19.
