Nassau Police Release More Info On Hit-And-Run
Police say a man was hit by a newer model, dark-colored Jeep Cherokee while crossing a Hempstead street. He is in critical condition.
HEMPSTEAD, NY — Nassau County police have released more information about they car they are looking for in connection to a hit-and-run in Hempstead on July 10 that left a man in critical condition.
According to police, a man was crossing North Franklin Avenue near Jackson Street at 9:49 p.m. when he was hit by a dark-colored Jeep. The driver of the Jeep fled in an unknown direction.
The man was taken to a nearby hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.

Police say the car they're looking for is newer model, dark-colored Jeep Cherokee. It was heading north on Franklin Avenue when it hit the man, and then fled east on Jackson Street.
Earlier that same night, a 31-year-old man driving an ATV was hit at the intersection of Peninsula Boulevard and South Franklin Street. Police are looking for a dark blue, older model Nissan Altima in connection with that incident. The man who was hit has since died of his injuries, police said.

Nassau County police are asking anyone with information about either incident to call the Third Squad at 516-573-6353, or call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
