Olena Nicks Sworn In As Nassau Legislator

Nicks won a special election on Feb. 25 to fill the remainder of Siela Bynoe's term.

MINEOLA, NY — The newest member of the Nassau County Legislature has heen sworn in.

Olena Nicks (D–Uniondale) took the oath on Monday to represent the residents of the Second Legislative District.

Nicks, who won a special election on Feb. 25, will serve the remainder of Siela Bynoe's term. She departed the Legislature after being elected to the State Senate.

Nicks was sworn in by Nassau County Legislature Minority Leader Delia DeRiggi-Whitton as family, friends, supporters and colleagues from the Uniondale Fire Department, where she has volunteered for more than 14 years and achieved the rank of Second Lieutenant, looked on and celebrated.

District 2 is comprised of the communities from Uniondale, Westbury, New Cassel and portions of Hempstead Village.
