Expanded Nassau DMV Hours As Real ID Deadline Looms
The Garden City DMV location has Saturday hours through June to handle the backlog of requests.
LONG ISLAND, NY — The deadline is Wednesday for New Yorkers to get the Real ID drivers license. The main takeaway for the upgraded identification is needing it for any domestic travel. However, in lieu of the Real ID option, travelers can show a passport book or card, according to the TSA website.
The Department of Motor Vehicles has extended office hours at the Garden City location and in Medford through June to streamline the process as much as possible. An enhanced version of the Real ID can be used instead of a passport for border travel from Canada, Mexico.
The Real ID is not required for a license to drive.

The Garden City DMV location is at 400 Oak St. The Medford location is on Rt. 112.
