Sunday's LI Marathon Brings Road Closures, Security Preparations
The race begins at 7:30 a.m. at Eisenhower Park.
EAST MEADOW, NY — With the Long Island Marathon scheduled this weekend, preparations are well underway around Eisenhower Park. Drivers will find several road closures on Sunday morning.
Park Boulevard will shut down at the Hempstead Turnpike entrance from 6:30- 9 a.m. The remainder of Park Boulevard will be closed from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Also blocked to traffic from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.:

- Charles Lindbergh Boulevard (entire loop)
- Earl Ovington Blvd. (entire length)
- Merrick Avenue (Hempstead Turnpike to Stewart Ave/Park Blvd)

Spectators and family members will be permitted to view the start-line activities from a pre-designated area, but will not be allowed to congregate with the athletes.
All vehicles at the starting line and other staging areas must be credentialed and
known in advance.
All race participants must bring their personal belongings in the clear plastic
bag provided by the race committee. Bags will be subject to K-9 explosive
detection before being loaded onto the trucks bringing them to the finish line.
