HEMPSTEAD, NY — President-elect Trump has been busy since the election, nominating various people to cabinet positions and other governmental posts.

While some of Trump's selections have been controversial, James Sample, a constitutional law professor at Hofstra University, told Patch that others fit the more standard mold.

"Marco Rubio is a traditional Republican," Sample said. "There may be individuals who are fans of his and individuals who are not fans of his. That's the nature of America. But he's somebody who's been in the Senate for a good period of time. He was a presidential candidate for a time."

Sample thinks that Rubio, nominated for Secretary of State, "comes across as a pick that is consistent with historical practice and norms."

Not all of Trump's choices have gotten the same favorable feelings.

"There are some picks that cause real concern on an individual level," Sample said.

The professor cited Kash Patel for FBI director, Pete Hegseth for Defense Secretary, Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence and Pam Bondi for Attorney General.

Sample expects a "tumultuous" second term for Trump.
