15 People Displaced From Overnight Apartment Fire In Nassau: Police
Three people, including officers, were injured from the early Thursday fire, police said.

GLEN COVE, NY — An apartment building fire in Glen Cove during the overnight hours on Thursday caused substantial damage, Glen Cove police said.
Just after 3:30 a.m., an officer on patrol spotted smoke and flames pouring out of the building on 68 Glen Cove Road.
Officers forced their way into the locked building and began evacuating people, poiice said.

The Glen Cove Fire Department was assisted by Locust Valley, Bayville, Sea Cliff, East Norwich, and Roslyn fire departments.
During the fire, the main entrance became blocked by fire and smoke which required the remaining occupants to be removed from a second-floor window by Glen Cove firefighters, police said.

“Thankfully, the quick actions by the Glen Cove Police and Fire Department prevented anyone from being seriously injured as a result of this quick moving fire," Det. Lt. John Nagle, Glen Cove Police Department.
There was major damage to the interior and roof. It is believed that the fire may have started in an unoccupied apartment that was undergoing renovations. The fire does not appear to be suspicious in nature, police said.
More than a dozen residents were displaced and required temporary housing, police said.
One tenant and two Glen Cove police officers were treated for smoke inhalation.
