2nd Generation Survivor To Speak On Int'l Holocaust Remembrance Day

GLEN COVE, NY — In honor of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center (HMTC) has a special event scheduled.

Second-generation Holocaust survivor Dr. Bernie Furshpan, whose parents were born in Poland and endured unimaginable losses before emigrating to Israel, will share his family's powerful story.

Furshpan was born in Israel, raised in Brooklyn and has lived on Long Island since he was in college.

The Jan. 26 event features an excerpt from the acclaimed film "Shoah."

You can register on the HMTC website. A solemn candle-lighting ceremony is also part of the 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. proceedings.
