Cheryl Benton of Glen Cove Honored with 2025 ICON Award from Long Island Business News

Founder of The Three Tomatoes honored by Long Island Business News for her decades of leadership, advocacy, and commitment to women.

Glen Cove, NY – August 24, 2025The Three Tomatoes proudly congratulates its founder, Cheryl Benton of Glen Cove, who was honored on Thursday, August 21, with the prestigious 2025 ICON Award from Long Island Business News (LIBN).

The ICON Award celebrates leaders over the age of 60 who have made a lasting impact through professional achievement, mentoring, and community service. Benton exemplifies all of these qualities through her decades of leadership, innovation, and advocacy for women.

A Champion for Women’s Voices

In 2008, Benton founded The Three Tomatoes, a digital lifestyle magazine created to give women over 40 a vibrant voice and community at a time when they were often overlooked by mainstream media.

In 2019, she expanded her mission with The Three Tomatoes Book Publishing, which has already helped more than 70 authors—primarily women—bring their books to life, with 10 more currently in development.

This year, Benton launched The Three Tomatoes Giving Circle, which has raised and distributed $15,000 in grants to grassroots, women-led organizations making a tangible impact in their communities.

Global Impact and Local Pride

Benton’s advocacy extends far beyond Long Island. She has served as Board Chair of the Metropolitan New York Chapter of UN Women and chaired the NYC Leadership Council for Plan International USA, advancing equality and opportunities for women and girls in more than 100 countries.
