Club Marks Summer's End With Barbecue and Fun

The Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club's summer programs ended Friday.

The held a day of food, music and activities Friday to mark the end of its "Animal Planet" summer program, according to a Club release.

Inflatable bounce houses and slides, facepainting and temporary tattoos were also part of the fun, as well as various indoor and outdoor games. 

More than 150 children, parents and volunteers showed up for the event.

It concludes six weeks of Club programs, which included trips to a local farm and an aquarium.

In partnership with the Nassau County Police Department, Club members participated in Gang Resistance Education Training, or G.R.E.A.T., which was complete with a visit from an ATF agent and a K-9 handler who gave a demonstration with his dog.

The program "encourages positive relationships among the community, parents,schools, and law enforcement officers," the Club's release stated.
