Cyclist Dies In Nassau Crash Tuesday Evening: Police

He entered traffic from a walkway and hit a passing car, police said.

GLEN COVE, NY — A collision between a bicyclist and a car at 8:58 p.m. Tuesday in Glen Cove proved fatal, Nassau County police said.

According to the preliminary findings, the 32-year-old cyclist was eastbound approaching Glen Cove Avenue, from a walkway behind a residential building, when he entered traffic and struck a 2004 Honda Accord, police said. The bicyclist was transported by Glen Cove EMS to a local hospital where he was pronounced at 9:29 p.m. by a hospital physician, police said.

The driver of the vehicle, a 31-year-old man, remained at the scene. No other injuries were reported and no charges were filed, police said.
