Day-Long Jazz Fest Returns To Tilles Center

A New Orleans-style procession and Grammy Award winning trumpeter Arturo Sandoval are part of Saturday's event.

GREENVALE, NY — The Tilles Center is bringing a day of world-class jazz this weekend in Nassau County. The second annual Jazz Fest features daytime performances across two scenic outdoor stages — the Great Lawn and University Arches. An intimate indoor afternoon performance will take place at the historic Winnick House. It concludes with a New Orleans-style "Second Line Procession."

The day-long event wraps up with 10-time Grammy Award winning trumpeter Arturo Sandoval, as well as the jazz stylings of John Pizzarelli Big Band.

  • New Jazz Underground – Explosive young trio from Juilliard and NYC jazz scene
  • Vanisha Gould – Lyrical and bold voice in modern jazz
  • Gotham Kings – Joyful brass band led by Wynton Marsalis protégé Alphonso Horne
  • LIU Post Jazz Ensemble – Faculty and student band performing Afro-Cuban jazz

Saturday's shows at the four outdoor stages run from 1-5:30 p.m. Sandoval takes the Tilles Center stage at 7:30 p.m.

Through the day, children will can interact with percussive jazz instruments and performers at an “Instrument Petting Zoo” and participate in musical arts and crafts.
