Gas Explosion And House Fire Reported In Glen Head: Police

Police say there is substantial structural damage.

GLEN HEAD, NY — A house fire broke out Thursday at 5:53 p.m., causing substantial structural damage, Nassau County police said.

According to police, officials responded to a home on Cedar Swamp Road and observed a fire in the house. All of the residents of the house were safely evacuated, without any reported injuries, police said.

The Glenwood Fire Department and neighboring fire departments responded to put out the flames, police said. The Nassau County Fire Marshal, the arson bomb Squad, and the Town of Oyster Bay also responded to the residence, police said.

Further investigation revealed a gas explosion had occurred, and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
