GC Downtown BID Hosts First Ever Art Crawl

Art filled the shops of Downtown Glen Cove on Friday during the Glen Cove Downtown Business Improvement District (BID)’s first ever Art Crawl!
Downtown businesses displayed the artwork of local artists in mini pop-up galleries. During the night participants were encouraged to “crawl” from business to business, using About the Artist pamphlets as a guide, enjoying small bites and admiring the artwork.
The April 25 event showcased multiple local artists in 10 different downtown locations.

Downtown Glen Cove is home to the Peter B. Holden Art Gallery at 32 School Street and the Long Island Academy of Fine Arts at 14 Glen Street, both of which were open for the event.
The First City Project transformed the upstairs of the JH Coles House, upstairs from Otherside Wine Bar, into The Art House; displaying fifteen artists from Gallery 23 in New York City.

Meritage Wine Bar showcased photographer Tony Tedeschi, Mad Chicken displayed art by Sophi Photo Memoir and Philip Zaino, Hair Above Salon had artwork by Rita Broughton, Tocolo Cantina hung art by Gerry Goldring, and Otherside Wine Bar hung photographs by Marino Carrabs.
SOCA Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu had two art pieces. One by the Glen Cove Adult Day Program, and one by Age Friendly Glen Cove.
Glen Floors and Scoop N Fruit housed paintings, ceramics and photographs by the Glen Cove High School students.
The North Shore Historical Museum remained open with a special sneak peek of their newest exhibit Revealing F. Edwin Church, American Impressionist, which officially opened the day following the event. Participants were also able to stop enjoy drinks and shopping at The Shoppe by Trubee Hill for their Sip and Shop event.
