(Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club)

Seven-year-old Anderson F., a third grader and a relatively new member of the Club, was named Junior Youth of the Month for her respectful, engaging, and cheerful outlook, as well as her commitment to her schoolwork. Her favorite subject is math, and she loves reading the Magic Tree House series by Mary Pope Osborne. Andi, as she is referred to by staff and fellow Club members, enjoys drawing, playing her favorite sport dodgeball, and exploring new activities at the Club. An active participant, Anderson has taken part in special program initiatives including the Cooking Club and Art Club, where she has demonstrated curiosity and creativity. “The Club means a lot. They have a lot of activities and great staff here,” said Anderson. She dreams of traveling the world one day and hopes to pursue a future career in professional sports.

Camila M.B. was recognized as Senior Youth of the Month in just her first year as a member. At 11 years old and in the 6th grade, Camila is already making a big impression with her enthusiasm, dedication, and positive attitude. Staff praise her for her kindness, responsibly tackling her homework and willingness to always help her fellow Club mates. Her favorite book series is Ramona by Beverly Cleary, and she enjoys drawing, baking chocolate chip cookies, and staying active. Camila’s favorite sport is volleyball, and academically, she excels in math. While she is still exploring what career path she would like to pursue, she is open to a variety of opportunities as she works toward future success. Camila is a consistent presence at the Club, attending regularly and eagerly engaging in activities. Reflecting on her experience, she shared, “I like the awards and prizes, and this is home because I like to play with my friends.” Her creativity, curiosity, and positive energy make her a deserving recipient of Senior Youth of the Month.
