Glen Cove FD To Host Open House On Sunday

There will be fire truck rides, fire safety demonstrations, fire house tours, smoke detector tutorials and free refreshments.

The Glen Cove Volunteer Fire Department will be holding an Open House on Sunday in honor of Fire Prevention Month.

October was originally named Fire Prevention Month in memory of the Great Chicago Fire of 1871 that killed more than 250 people. It is meant to promote fire prevention and awareness in communities through fire safety education.

The Open House will be held at the Glen Cove Volunteer Fire Department, located at 10 Glen Cove Ave., from noon to 3 p.m. rain or shine.
