GLEN COVE, NY — A Roslyn couple is bringing three Rumble fitness boxing gyms to Nassau County, beginning with a Glen Cove location slated for March 2023. The Glen Cove location will be the first on Long Island, along with a Plainview gym from another franchise owner, Siobhan Miller told Patch.

Miller, along with her husband Stephen Vitale, are working to get the gym, at 100 Village Square, ready for early 2023, she said. Originally from Oyster Bay, Miller previously owned a restaurant and says she's been interested in owning a fitness studio for years.

When Xponential Fitness bought the Rumble chain in 2021, and began selling off franchise areas, Miller and Vitale decided the time was right. They plan to open two more Nassau County gyms after Glen Cove, hopefully in Garden City and Manhasset, she said.

"Rumble was the first workout my husband and I could do together," she said.

"He thought it was going to be too girly," but changed his mind about the tough workout after trying a class, she remembered.

Miller says the Village Square location made sense, with its proximity to renters, many from New York City where they knew the Rumble brand, and its large space.

Rumble is half-cardio, half-strength training, Miller explains, and is open to all experience levels. It has the biggest chunk of male customers of the major "boutique" fitness studio brands, with 30 percent of Rumble gym-goers men.

The opening date for Roslyn is tentatively March 2023, Miller said, but is dependent on construction. Presales are open, with a reduced $149 per month membership for sale, discounted from the standard $209 per month.

"Gyms are such a community thing," Miller said, adding that residents will be able to check out the workout during a planned grand opening weekend in March.
