This may occur while the Glen Cove Water Department conducts their semi-annual fire hydrant flushing in April.

Glen Cove residents may notice some pressure fluctuation and discoloration in their water supply while the Glen Cove Water Department conducts their semi-annual fire hydrant flushing in April.

The flushing of 85 dead-end water mains is meant to clean accumulated dissolved mineral sediments prior to the system's peak usage period. This process will be conducted from April 2 to 30.

The City says the water discoloration poses no health risk. Residents can choose to keep a supply of clear water in the refrigerator for drinking and cooking in case discoloration shows up in the water.
