LI Native Takes 2nd Place On 'The Voice'
Shye, who spent three years at Glen Cove High School, said she was "so happy" to finish in the singing competition in second place.
GLEN COVE, NY — Long Island native Shye had a stellar run on "The Voice." And the former Glen Cove High School student made her hometown proud, finishing second in NBC's singing competition on Tuesday night.
Shye, 18, whose real name is Madison Roberts, posted on Instagram shortly after the show ended, "I wanted 2nd place so bad. I am so ... happy right now, you don’t even understand."
Last month, Glen Cove High School hosted a welcome home pep rally for Roberts.

Another Team Michael Bublé member, Sofronio Vasquez, was this season's champion on "The Voice."
It all started for Shye on the show in October with an audition performance of "Superman (It's Not Easy) and ended in this week's finale with her versions of Joan Osborne's "One of Us" and Harry Styles' "Falling," Newsday said.
