Glen Cove Student Heads to NBA All-Star Game

Parker Wiesner scored first place in the recent NBA FIT Dribble, Dish & Swish contest regional finals at Queens College.

Landing Elementary School student Parker Wiesner was awarded first place in the NBA FIT Dribble, Dish & Swish contest regional finals on Jan. 24 at Queens College.

Wiesner and six other Landing students were invited to participate in the regional finals, along with other students from the tri-state area, after their school took part in the contest during gym class under the direction of physical education teacher Karen Serani in January.

Principal Kryoneris and the Landing School community commend Jordan Howe, Nia Phillips and Eli Reinheimer (7-8-year-old category); Morgan Hernandez and Wiesner (9-10-year-old category); and Samantha Silva and Jose Santos (11-12-year-old category) on their participation in the regional finals. They also expressed their congratulations to Wiesner, who was named first-place champion in the 9-10 year old boys’ division and Hernandez, who recorded her fastest time of 26.59, placing third in the girls’ competition.
