Glen Cove Students Make a Difference
Connolly third graders raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Connolly School students in Tara Pilewski’s third-grade class recently raised $1000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
The charitable donation came to fruition after Pilewski tasked students with researching local charities on the computer. Each group took notes and wrote a speech to teach their classmates about what they had learned about their organization. The students then discussed what charity would benefit most from a donation and voted to raise funds to the Make-A-Wish foundation.
Students planned a breakfast sale to help raise money, and with the help of Connolly’s parent volunteers, raised nearly $500. A “secret helper” decided to match that donation, allowing the students to donate $1,000, school officials said.
