Glen Cove Youth Explore the Gold Coast

Learning about Glen Cove's rich history with the Glen Cove After 3 Program.

The following is an update from the Glen Cove Youth Bureau and After 3 Program:

Exploration with the Glen Cove After 3 Program closed the year out with a tour of the Glen Cove Mansion with Maggie Lopez, Director of Human Services.  Staff showed the students around to different rooms, explained the history behind the Mansion and some of the Pratt Family stories, visited the bowling alley and kitchen, and gave a brief description of their typical day and answered questions over cookies and juice (some of the best cookies!  Thank you Career Chef Andy!)

Ringing in the New Year, we drove up the Gold Coast to Gold Coast Hobby on Railroad Plaza in Glen Head.  Trains, planes and automobiles, anything you want to build is found here!  Owner, Charles Gonder explained about his passion and past career of engineering, taught us about the possible harms of using natural products in dioramas, and showed us the different models that can be built.
