As part of a Glen Cove Youth Bureau work program, these teens are beautifying the city through projects throughout the summer.

GLEN COVE, NY — Glen Cove youth have been working hard to spruce up the city this summer.
As part of the Glen Cove Youth Bureau's 2020 Summer Youth Employment Program Green Team Program, 14- and 15-year-olds painted an "Ocean of Waves" mural at the Garvies Point Boat docks. The artwork, which was designed by Summer Coordinator Natalie Tenke, took two days to complete.
The Green Teams also planted Montauk daisies adjacent to the mural. The flowers will blossom within the next month.

Under the direction of supervisors Szymon Frye, Paola Mercado, program alumni and college students, team members involved with the program complete projects around Glen Cove to beautify the city.
Some of their previous work has included clearing out weeds around a local animal shelter and tidying up overgrown plants. They also work to maintain the Glen Cove Youth Bureau Community Garden, where they weed, plant, clean and harvest produce that includes corn, lettuce, tomatoes and zucchinis.
